Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)
Speech and language pathology (SLP), also known as speech-language therapy, is a field of healthcare focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with people of all ages to address difficulties with speech, language, voice, fluency, and cognitive communication caused by developmental delays, congenital disabilities, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cancer, and various other medical conditions. They use a variety of techniques and interventions, such as language exercises, articulation therapy, feeding and swallowing therapy, and assistive technology, to improve a person's ability to communicate effectively and confidently.
